Pregnancy and Cancer Top the List of the Most Commonly Searched Health Conditions


April 10, 2008 – comScore, Inc., a leader in measuring the digital world, today released a listing of the 20 most commonly searched health conditions as well as the 15 most commonly searched prescription brands in February 2008. The results revealed that the terms “pregnancy” and “cancer” were the two most frequently searched conditions, garnering 8.8 million and 7.7 million search queries respectively.


Younger, heavy online news consumers are not reading the newspaper


March 13, 2008 - comScore, Inc. a leader in measuring the digital world, today released the results of a study of the differences in online behavior among heavy, medium, light and non-newspaper readers. The results showed that non-newspaper readers are likely to be younger, and they are actually heavier than average online news consumers. Meanwhile, heavy newspaper readers are more likely than average to engage with traditional print news brands online.

Women turn to the Internet for health information


January 22, 2008 – comScore, Inc., a leader in measuring the digital world, today released results from a recent study showing that – second only to consulting physicians – women turn most often to the Internet for health information. Eighty-five percent of women using the Internet have researched women’s health issues online while two out of three (63 percent) have used the Internet specifically to learn about birth control options.


75% of U.S. internet users watch online video


November 30, 2007 – comScore, Inc., a leader in measuring the digital world, today released its comScore Video Metrix report for September 2007, revealing that nearly 75 percent of U.S. Internet users watched a video online (including both streaming video and progressive downloads), averaging three hours of video per person during the month. Google Sites, which includes YouTube.com, topped the September rankings with both the most unique video viewers and most videos viewed.

November 5, 2007 – comScore, Inc., a leader in measuring the digital world, today released a study of online sales of “In Rainbows,” a new record album from the band Radiohead. During the first 29 days of October, 1.2 million people worldwide visited the “In Rainbows” site, with a significant percentage of visitors ultimately downloading the album. The study showed that 38 percent of global downloaders of the album willingly paid to do so, with the remaining 62 percent choosing to pay nothing. The percent downloading for free in the U.S. (60 percent) is only marginally lower than in the rest of the world (64 percent).


Heavy social networkers frequent apparel and electronics sites


comScore, Inc., a leader in measuring the digital world, today released the results of a study , which showed that heavy U.S. visitors to social networking sites are significantly more likely than average to visit leisure-oriented retail site categories, such as music, jewelry/luxury goods/accessories, consumer electronics and apparel.

July 31, 2007: comScore a leader in measuring the digital world, released a report on U.S. e-commerce spending for the second quarter of 2007, which showed that non-travel (retail) e-commerce grew 23 percent versus year ago to $27.2 billion, while online travel spending increased 14 percent to $20.3 billion. Total U.S. e-commerce spending climbed 19 percent to $47.5 billion during the period.

NBA.com draws a majority of traffic from overseas fans in April 2007


May 30, 2007: comScore, a leader in measuring the digital world, today released the results of study of global visitation to NBA.com, revealing that 12.4 million people age 15 or older from around the world visited the Web site in April 2007. The study also revealed that International visitors represented the majority of the traffic, with more than half (54 percent) coming from outside of North America. The Asia Pacific region accounted for 36.6 percent of visitors, followed by 11.7 percent from Europe, 3.5 percent from Latin America and 2.1 percent from Middle East-Africa.


Study reveals that Mobile TV is most popular among males and younger age groups


April 23, 2007: comScore, a leader in measuring the digital world, today released the results of a study analyzing Americans’ usage of, and attitudes toward, Mobile TV, which is defined as television watched via a mobile phone device (either live or on-demand). The study, based on a survey of more than 2,000 mobile phone users, revealed that nearly two out of three Mobile TV subscribers are male and that nearly half are below the age of 35. Also included in the study are insights about consumer behavior and attitudes toward Mobile TV, including information on product awareness, programming content, and key purchase motivators.


Research finds that "Second Life" has a rapidly growing and global base of active residents.


April 23, 2007: comScore, a leader in measuring the digital world, released a comprehensive worldwide analysis of the active users of Second Life, the 3-D virtual world that is entirely built and owned by its "residents." The study revealed that approximately 1.3 million people ran the official software and logged-in to Second Life in March 2007. This represents an increase of 46 percent in the number of active residents from January 2007.
